Renato Borrayo Serrano

Director de cine, director de fotografía y editor guatemalteco.
Becado en 2012 para realizar estudios universitarios por el programa de excelencia académica de la Federación Rusa.
En 2017 se graduó como director de cine especializado en cine documental, de la Universidad Estatal de Cinematografía de toda Rusia, S. A. Gerasimov «VGIK» (Moscú, Rusia).
En 2017 completó cursos en la Escuela de Cine y Teatro Documental Marina Razbezhkina y Mikhail Jugaron.
Desde 2014 sus trabajos cinematográficos han sido presentados y premiados en numerosos festivales de cine internacionales. Ha participado en varios eventos de prestigio de la industria cinematográfica como el mercado de coproducción Dok Leipzig, Karlovy Vary IFF works in progress, Tromso Below zero Pitch y muchos otros. Su “Film for Carlos” recibió el premio honorífico del jurado en Dok Leipzig 2017 y también una mención honorífica del jurado en Art Dok Fest 2017 en Moscú y ganó el premio al mejor cortometraje en DocuDays UA 2018 en Kiev, entre muchos otros.
Su debut como director del largometraje «Life of Ivanna» tuvo su estreno mundial en la competencia principal del festival CPH:DOX y su estreno norteamericano en Hotdocs 2021 en Toronto, y ha sido presentada en los festivales de cine documental más prestigiosos del mundo como Shanghai IFF, DOCNYC entre otros. Esta película fue galardonada en Zúrich Film Festival 2021 con el Gran Prix Golden Eye a mejor película de la competencia internacional. Su película fue financiada por el Instituto de cine Noruego y el instituto de cine de Estonia, entre otras prestigiosas instituciones como la Freedom of speech Foundation, Viken filmsenter y otros.
Ha participado como tutor y lector en diversas iniciativas didácticas y de enseñanza sobre el arte del cine de no ficción en Rusia, Guatemala y Alemania.
